Harunobu was one of the first Japanese artists to make woodblock prints in full color. His subjects included flowers and (or) birds and twenty-two of these prints are shown below. His pictures were meant to entertain viewers so he often used his imagination when drawing flowers and birds (e.g., picture 1-10) and when combining them with people (e.g., pictures 11-22).
